INT. GLENWOOD SPRINGS PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL
( A doctor looks at a medical file, about Susan .)
DOCTOR : The nurses tell me that, uh, you're not taking your medication. You want to tell me why ? (Susan doesn't answer.) Susan ?
SUSAN : The pills make me sleepy, but I can't... If I sleep, it'll come.
DOCTOR : You mean the monster. Now, we have talked about this.
SUSAN : But it killed Annie.
DOCTOR : Susan, you're schizophrenic. Your mind plays tricks on you. You get confused. Sometimes, you see things.
SUSAN : I know what I am. Like I can see my dead son standing right behind you. I know he's not real. But the monster... it is real.
DOCTOR : Annie was your roomate. And what happened to her was painful, for all of us. Perhaps it's easier for you to conjure up a monster than to face how tragic her suicide really was.
SUSAN : (starting crying.) I can hear it at night... in the walls. Please. You have to believe me !
DOCTOR : Susan. There is no such thing as monsters.
INT. SUSAN'S ROOM
(Susan looks at a picture of her son, and smiles. Lights fade out.)
NURSE : (off the camera) It's 8:30. Black out.
(Susan snuggles up on her bed. Elle seems to be afraid. She hears noises in the ceiling, and she approaches the trapdoor. The trapdoor falls.)
INT. HOSPITAL'S CORRIDOR
SUSAN : (off the camera, screaming) Oh my God ! Help me ! Help me ! Please !
(Two nurses listen Susan screaming.)
NURSE : They're starting early tonight.
INT. SUSAN'S ROOM.
(Susan is sitting beneath the wall, crying.)
SUSAN : Hurry !
INT. CORRIDOR
(A patient sees Susan screaming for help.)
SUSAN : It's coming ! Help me ! Help me ! Help me !
(She suddenly disappears, something pulls her in the back. The patient screams surprised. Susan is still screaming.)
INT. SUSAN'S ROOM
(A nurse finally decides to come to see Susan. She finds her dead, her wrists cut off.)
SUPERNATURAL
INT. DOCTOR'S ROOM
(Susan's doctor receives Sam and Dean. He examines Sam's file.)
DOCTOR : You were reffered to me by a Dr Babar, in Chicago.
SAM : That's right.
DOCTOR : Isn't there a children's book about an elephant named Babar ?
DEAN : I don't know. I don't have any elephant books. Look doctor, I-I think that he... the doc was in over his head with this one ( showing Sam), cause my brother's uh... (Dean makes a sign that means Sam is crazy.)
DOCTOR : Okay, fine, thank you. That's- that's really not necessary. (To Sam.) Why don't you tell me how you're feeling, Alex ?
SAM : I'm fine. I mean, ok, a little depressed, I guess.
DOCTOR : (taking notes.) Alright. Any idea why ?
SAM : Probably because I started the Apocalypse.
DOCTOR : The Apocalypse ?
SAM : Yeah. That's right.
(The doctor stares at Dean who's smiling.)
DOCTOR : And you think you started it ?
SAM : Well, yeah, I mean... I killed this demon -Lilith- and I accidentally freed Lucifer from Hell. So, now he's top-side, and we're trying to stop him.
DOCTOR : Who is ?
SAM : Me. And him (showing Dean). And, uh, this one angel.
DOCTOR : Oh, you mean like... like an angel on your shoulder ?
SAM : No, no. His name's Castiel. He wears a trenchcoat.
DEAN : See what I mean doc ? I mean the kid's been beating himself up about this for months. The Apocalypse wasn't his fault.
DOCTOR : It's not ?
DEAN : No. There was this other demon, Ruby. She got him addicted to demon blood. I mean, near the end, he was practically chugging the stuff. My brother's not evil. He was just... high. Yeah ? So would you fix him up, so we could get back to traveling around the country and hunting monsters ?
(The doctor makes them wait, then grabs his phone.)
DOCTOR : Erma ? Cancel my lunch.
INT. CORRIDOR
(Dean and Sam follows a female nurse.)
NURSE : Dr Fuller would like to keep you both under observation for a couple of days.
DEAN : Both ? Me too ?
NURSE : Yes sugar. The doctor thinks that would be best.
(Dean and Sam smile at each other.)
INT. DOCTOR'S ROOM
(The nurse examines the boys, one after another.)
NURSE : All right. I'm just gonna give you a little checkup.
DEAN : All right nurse ratched, let's get one thing straight - I've seen Cuckoo's Nest, so don't try any soul-crashing authoritarian crap on me. Hmm ?
NURSE : (smiling.) Okey Dokey. ( It's Sam's turn.) All right, you can go ahead and take down your pants.
SAM : Wait, hm... What -what for ?
(The nurse takes a glove. Sam sighs.)
INT. HOSPITAL'S HALL
(Dean is waiting for Sam. Sam comes.)
DEAN : How was your silkwood shower ?
SAM : Okay. Yeah, good, yeah. Good, uhm.... Good water pressure. Did the nurse... ?
DEAN : She was very thorough.
SAM : Yeah. Yeah good. Good. Yeah.
(Dean stares at the room and the other patients.)
DEAN : Can't believe I let you take me into this.
SAM : Hey, it's the least we could do. Martin saved dad's ass more times we can count. He's a great hunter.
DEAN : Was. Until Albuquerque.
SAM : Besides, I just figure it's best we keep busy. That's all.
DEAN : Better than what ?
SAM : Nothing. (He hesitates.) Okay, look, um... Last few weeks, you kind of been worrying me.
DEAN : Oh, come on Sam, stop. Look, just because we're on the loon in, doesn't give you the right to head-shrink me.
SAM : Dean.
DEAN : Ellen and Jo died, yeah it was freakin' tragedy, okay ? But I'm not gonna wallow in it.
SAM : You always do this. You can't just keep this crap in.
DEAN : Watch me. (He looks around, and sees Martin.) Oh, there he is.
(They come to Martin, who doesn't see them at first. Sam clears his throat. Martin finally sees them, and gets up.)
MARTIN : Sam ! Dean ! Wow. (He shakes their hands.) Wow, you boys got big. You look good.
SAM : Thanks. You do too Martin.
(An awkard silence comes in.)
MARTIN : Well, thanks for coming.
SAM : Yeah.
(Three of them sit around the table.)
MARTIN : In the old days, I could've taken care of this thing with both hands tied behind my back. But... well now...
SAM : What do you think it is that we're hunting ?
MARTIN : I don't know yet. Ghost, demon, monster. Animal, vegetable, mineral. Hospital has five deaths in the last four months. Doctors keep calling it suicides. But they're wrong.
SAM : So you've seen this thing ?
(Martin shakes his head.)
DEAN : Has anyone seen this thing ?
MARTIN : Well, a couple of patiens have, uh, glimpses, but that's not a lot to go on.
DEAN : Are they reliable ?
MARTIN : Oh sure, why wouldn't they be ?
(Dean looks at a woman who seems to dance with someone, but she's alone.)
DEAN : Gee, I don't know.
MARTIN : I know you boys think I'm a bag of loose screws. Well, you wouldn't be wrong. But I wouldn't call you, unless there was something here. I can feel it in my gut.
(Sam and Dean look at each other.)
SAM : We believe you. Have you checked any of the bodies ? Found signs of an attack ?
MARTIN : Well, uh, no. I don't uh... I don't go around dead bo-bodies anymore.
DR FULLER : (off camera) Alex, Eddie (Dean and Sam turn around and see the doctor) I'm glad to see you're making friends. Why don't you and Mr Creaser join us for group ? Please. Right this way. (The guys get up. Sam and Martin take the path which Dr Fuller shows them. Dean tries to follow, but he is stopped by Fuller.) Actually, I'm going to put you in the afternoon group.
DEAN : What ? Why ?
DR FULLER : Well, to be franc uh, the relationship that you have with your brother seems dangerously codependent. I think a little time apart will do you both good.
(Dean stays alone.)
INT. GROUP'S ROOM
(The group is starting.)
FULLER : Alright, so... who would like to start us off ? (A patient puts his hand in the air, but the doc ignores him.) Anyone else ? (The patient tries again to catch doc's attention. Dr Fuller sighs.) All right Ted. Calm down.
TED : I am calm. And I'd very calmly like to talk about the monster that's hunting us.
FULLER : Ted, we're not going to have that discussion again. It's not good for group.
TED : I agree. You know what else isn't good for group ? A monster eating all our faces off-
FULLER : All right fine, thank you. Now, anyone else-
TED : I saw it ! When it killed Susan !
(Sam looks interested.)
FEMALE PATIENT : I did too ! It had big lobster claws.
TED : No, it didn't !
FEMALE PATIENT : Yeah, and it was an alien, like on X-Files.
TED : Stop it ! Stop helping ! Listen to me ! We're all dead !
FULLER : That's enough ! (He stares at Ted.) There is no monster. Now Ted, do you need me to call the oderlies ? (Ted shakes his head.) Or can you behave ?
TED : Behave.
(Sam and Martin look at each other.)
INT. HALL
(Dean is playing to checkers.)
DEAN : King me ! (He laughs.)
(A young female doctor comes to him.)
DOCTOR : Eddie ? (Dean looks at her with wide-eyed open.) I'm doctor Erica Cartwright. I've been assigned your case.
DEAN : You're my shrink ? Well, lucky me.
ERICA : (opens a file.) And you're my paranoid schizophrenic with narcissistic personnality disorder, ad religious psychosis. (She closes the file.) Lucky me.
DEAN : (awkwardly.) Hmm.
ERICA : Can we talk ?
(She sits.)
DEAN : Yes. I've actually got some questions for you.
ERICA : What a coincidence ! I've got some for you too.
DEAN : Well then, quid pro quo Clarice.
(He whistles with his tongue, just like a snake would do.)
ERICA : Ok Hannibal. I'll go first. How many hours at night do you sleep ?
DEAN : Three or four. Every couple of nights. What can you tell me about the recent suicides in here ?
ERICA : They were tragic.
DEAN : But you haven't noticed anything... strange. You know like, I don't know, black smoke, sulfur ?
ERICA : No. Why ? What's that supposed to mean ?
DEAN : Demon signs. I hunt demons, monsters. That kind of thing.
ERICA : How many drinks do you have a week ?
DEAN : Well, I got to sleep sometimes so, uh... what's seven days times.... It's somwhere in the mid fifty's. You ever feel any, uh, any cold spots, or get a chill walking through the hospital ?
ERICA : Not that I can remember. If I had ?
DEAN : Means there's a ghost around.
ERICA : Okay. When was the last time you were in a long-term relationship ?
DEAN : Define "long-term".
ERICA : More than two months.
DEAN : Never. The patients reported seeing anything weird ?
ERICA : In here ? All the time.
DEAN : Right.
ERICA : So... let's talk about your father.
INT. CORRIDOR
(Dean walks, lost in his thoughts. Sam comes to him.)
SAM : Dean. Hey. You okay ?
DEAN : I just got thraped. So no, I am not okay. Tell me you found something.
SAM : Yeah. A guy says he saw the creature. We should talk to him. Want to meet me back in an hour ?
DEAN : Yeah. Sooner we took care of this thing the sooner we can get gone. This place gives me the creeps.
(He turns, and a female patient, called Wendy, kisses him.)
WENDY : Hi.
DEAN : Hi.
WENDY : I'm Wendy.
(She walks away, after she puts her hand on Dean's ass.)
DEAN : Maybe this place isn't so bad after all.
SAM : Dude... You can not hit that.
DEAN : Oh, so torn. (Night is in. Sam gets out of room 344. He just checked the room.) About time. Nurses are on their rounds. We got like fifteen, twenty minutes. Where is this guy ?
SAM : Room 306.
(They both go to Ted's room. On their way, they hear Ted screaming. They run. Something has grabbed Ted and his foot hit the door.)
DEAN : Oh geez ! Hurry up ! Come on ! Hurry up !
SAM : Hey back off Dean !
(Sam finally opens the door. They run in, but it's too late. Ted is hung. Screen fades to black.)
INT. MORGUE
(The guys examine Ted's body. Sam touches a little hole on Ted's neck.)
SAM : Hey. I found something.
DEAN : What do you got right here ?
SAM : Um... give me a hand. (He takes a cotton-bud.) All right. (He puts the cotton-bud inside the hole.) This hole goes all the way through to his brain.
DEAN : What does that mean ?
SAM : Let's find out.
(He shows a saw to Dean.)
DEAN : Seriously ?
SAM : You might want to keep watch.
INT. CORRIDOR
(Dean's waiting. He hears saw's noise. He's disgusted.)
INT. MORGUE
(Sam has cut Ted's skull. He takes out the brain.)
INT. CORRIDOR
(Dean keeps watching. Some noise can get heard from the hallway.)
INT. MORGUE
(Dean gets in.)
DEAN : Dude !
(Sam shows Ted's brain.)
SAM : Look ! His brain's been sucked dry.
DEAN : It's fascinating ! Somebody's coming.
(Sam puts the brain inside Ted's head. The nurse finally comes in.)
NURSE : What are you boys doing in here ?
(Sam laughs. He just doesn't know what to say. Dean puts his pants down.)
DEAN : Pudding !
NURSE : All right ! Come on you two.
(She opens the door, and Sam et Dean start to get out.)
DEAN : (to sam, whispering.) Crazy works.
INT. HALLWAY
(Dean and Sam look at drawings on the wall, with Martin.)
DEAN : Are those original gacys ?
MARTIN : I painted those.
SAM : Back on point, please. So, whatever this is...
DEAN : (to Martin, whispering.) Good.
SAM : It slurpes your brain. Sucks you dry.
DEAN : Yeah, then it makes the deaths look like suicides. Any ideas ?
MARTIN : (thinking.) Yeah. A bad one.
(Later, Martin shows to Dean and Sam a monster drawn.)
SAM : What is it ?
MARTIN : Well, I bet you a chicken dinner it's what we're up against. A wraith. They crack open skulls et feed of brain juice.
SAM : You ever tangle with one before ?
MARTIN : Never. Never wanted to, either.
DEAN : So how do we kill it ?
MARTIN : Silver. You so much as touch the wraith with stuff, and the skill will crackle. Now, that's good news. The bad news is... They can pass as humans. It could be any Peter, Paul or Mary in the joint.
DEAN : Fantastic. So how do we find it ?
MARTIN : A mirror. Lore says a wraith will show its true form in a mirror.
DEAN : Okay. Well, we just got to spot and check every patient and every staff member.
SAM : Yeah. But, I mean, what's it doing in a mental hospital ?
DEAN : A nuthouse... It's - It's a perfect captive victim pool.
MARTIN : Sure. Who's gonna believe a patient when they say they saw a monster ? It's the perfect hunting ground.
INT. CORRIDOR
(Dean is on a corner. He watches a mirror. He's joined by Erica.)
DEAN : What's up Doc ?
ERICA : You tell me.
DEAN : Hunting. A wraith actually. Could be anybody.
ERICA : So... I could be a monster.
(Dean checks the mirror.)
DEAN : Nah. You're clean.
ERICA : Why you ?
DEAN : Why me what ?
ERICA : Why do you have to hunt monsters ? Why not let someone else do it ?
DEAN : I can't find anybody else that dumb. It's my job. Somebody's gotta save people's asses. Yours included.
ERICA : So is there a quota ? How many people do you have to save ?
DEAN : All of them.
ERICA : All of them ? You think you have to save everyone ?
DEAN : Yep. Whole wide world of sports.
ERICA : How ? Believe me, whatever you got, I've heard weirder.
DEAN : It's the end of the world, okay ? I mean, it's the damn biblical apocalypse. And if I don't stop it, and save everyone, then no one will and we all die.
ERICA : That's horrible.
DEAN : You tell me about it.
ERICA : I mean apocalypse or no apocalypse, monsters or no monsters, that's a crashing weight to have on your shoulders. To feel like six billions of lives depend on you... God... How'd you get up in the morning ?
DEAN : That's a good question.
(Dr Fuller passes by.)
FULLER : Hello Eddie.
DEAN : Doc.
(Dean sees doc's reflection in the mirror and the wraith appears.)
INT. CORRIDOR
(At night. Sam joins Dean and Martin. He gives them some silver blades.)
SAM : All right. I had to raid three nurses stations to get these. They're only silver-plated, but they should work.
(Wendy walks through them.)
DEAN : Oh no, no, no. Not tonight, sweetheart. Come on. Keep walking.
(She kisses Sam.)
WENDY : I want him now. He's larger.
(She walks away.)
DEAN : Hmm. You've had worse.
SAM : Fuller is on call tonight, so we'll have to hit him after lights out. All three of us.
MARTIN : What ? No !
DEAN : Martin. We got to get pass the security, pass the orderlies, and then cut the boss man's throat, okay ? It's gonna suck start to finish, but we could use the backup.
MARTIN : No I can't.... I can't !
SAM : We know what happened in Albuquerque.
MARTIN : You don't know the half of it. God... I used to be just like you two. I used to think I was invincible. And then... I found out I'm not.
DEAN : Martin. You're still a hunter.
MARTIN : No ! I'm not. I'm useless. Why do you think I checked myself in the hotel california ? I'd give anything to help you boys. I would. But I-I can't. I'm sorry, I can't.
(He walks away.)
INT. DOC'S OFFICE
(Dean finds the doc's keys.)
DEAN : He's still in the building. You take the west wing, I will take the east.
INT. CORRIDOR
(Sam searches for Dr Fuller. He sees him coming, so he hides behind a corner. Fuller passes by the corner, then Sam jumps on him. Two male nurses try to stop him, and Fuller runs away. Sam fights with the nurses, then he runs after Fuller, hurts him with his silver blade, and tries to kill him, but Martin comes and stops him before it's too late.)
MARTIN : No ! No ! Look at his arm ! The cut's not burning. It's not him ! It's not him.
(Sam realises his mistake. Screen fades to black.)
INT. SAM'S ROOM
(Dean comes in. Sam seems high.)
DEAN : You're okay ?
SAM : No. No. I'm not okay. I... I... I... am... awesome !
DEAN : They gave you something ?
SAM : Oh yeah, they gave me... everything... It's-it's spectacu-lacular. (He laughs.)
DEAN : You always were a happy drunk.
(Sam grabs Dean's arm.)
SAM : Dean... The doctor... wasn't a wraith.
DEAN : I know. I don't understand but I saw him in a mirror. It wasn't human.
SAM : Or you're seeing things. Maybe... Maybe... Maybe, maybe... you're going crazy.
DEAN : I'm not crazy.
SAM : Well uh, come on. I mean, you've been at least.... half crazy for uh, a long time. Since you've come back from hell, or since before that even, I mean, we're in hum... we're in a mental hospital. (He laughs.) Maybe, maybe, you finally cracked. Maybe now you are really, for real crazy.
DEAN : I made a mistake. That's all. I'll find that thing.
SAM : (grabs Dean's shoulders) Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, I know. I know. It's okay. Hey, look at me. It's okay. Cause you're my brother. And I still love ya.(Dean smiles reluctantly. Sam push Dean's nose.) Boop !
INT. CORRIDOR
(Dean walks alone, still searching for the wraith. Erica joins him.)
ERICA : You missed our session today.
DEAN : I'm a little busy.
ERICA : Still hunting that wraith ?
DEAN : People are dying.
ERICA : People die all the time.
DEAN : Look lady, why don't you just let me do my job, maybe save your life ?
ERICA : It's not my life that I'm worried about.
DEAN : Oh my go- I'm fine. Okay ? I'm fine.
(They stop walking. A nurse pics a look.)
ERICA : Come on. Even you don't believe that. All this pressure that you're putting yourself under, all this guilt, it's killing you. You can't save everybody. You can't. Hell, these days you can't save anybody Dean.
DEAN : What'd you say ?
ERICA : The truth, Dean. You got Ellen and Jo killed. You shot Lucifer but you couldn't gank him. You couldn't stop Sam from killing Lilith and... oh yeah ! You broke the first seal. All you do si fail. Di you really think that you, Dean Winchester, with a G.E.D and give'em-hell attitude were gonna beat the Devil ? Please. The world is gonna burn, and there's nothing you could ever do about it.
DEAN : Who are you ? How do you know that stuff ?
NURSE : Hey. Settle down.
DEAN : Tell me !
(The nurse starts to come to Dean.)
NURSE : I said "settle down".
DEAN : Who are you ? (To the nurse.) Who is she ?
(The nurse can't see anything.)
NURSE : Who ?
DEAN : What, you're blind ? Her !
NURSE : Pal, there's nobody there.
(Dean seems to not understand.)
ERICA : I'm not real, Dean. I'm in your head. (Whispering.) Cause you are going crazy.
(Dean seems lost.)
DEAN : Just leave me alone.
(He leaves, and every persons he's meeting seem to be wraiths. Dean tries to escape, but he can't. He sits down on a corner, looking panicked.)
INT. SAM'S ROOM
(Someone knocks on the door. Dr Fuller and a nurse come in, Sam gets up from his chair.)
FULLER : You asked to see me ?
SAM : Yeah. Thanks. I, um... I just wanted to apologize. I feel horrible about what I did to you. I thought you were a monster.
FULLER : I know that. The question is why ?
SAM : I was... It doesn't matter, um... because after what happened last night, I-I-I had a... moment of clarity. I realised... there's no such thing as monsters.
FULLER : Well, I'm... glad to hear you say that. But honestly... monsters are the least of your problems. People can learn to live with delusions, but... the anger I saw in you... I hurt those two men, and you were going to kill me. The look in your eyes when you came after me, I... it's like you were barely even human. Like a man possessed.
(Sam looks pretty sad.)
SAM : I know. (Tears come up in his eyes.) Please... Just... Could you give me a second chance ?
FULLER : Well, this isn't a prison. You'll be allowed to go to the day room. Under supervision.
SAM : Thank you.
FULLER : Bit if there is one more outburst, I will transfer you to a facility that's equipped to handle violent patients, and believe me... there will be far, far less forgiven.
INT. DAY ROOM
(Sam comes in with a nurse. He joins Dean, who looks totally out of his mind.)
SAM : Dean, hey. What's wrong ?
(Dean gets up.)
DEAN : It's not the demon blood, Sam. It never was.
SAM : What ?
DEAN : The problem is you. It was always you. The lies. Your arrogance. The black spot on your soul.
(Patients start to surround Sam.)
PATIENT 1 : Now we're all gonna die because of you. It's all your fault.
PATIENT 2 : You killed all of us.
PATIENT : Freak ! Loser !
(Sam fights all the patient, who are not really there. A nurse tries to stop him, but Sam hits him. A second nurse maintains him tight.)
SAM : Leave me alone ! Leave me alone ! No ! Stop it ! Leave me alone ! Leave me alone ! I didn't do it ! Get off of me ! Leave me alone !
(The nurses walk away to lock up Sam. The real Dean seems far away from there.)
DEAN : What's happening ? What's happening ?
INT. MARTIN'S ROOM
(Martin is sleeping, when he hears someone enters into the room. He wakes up suddenly, ready to stab the stranger. But it's Dean.)
DEAN : Martin, Martin, it's me ! It's Dean !
MARTIN : Oh ! Sorry. You like like hell boy.
DEAN : I feel like it to.
MARTIN : Where is Sam ?
DEAN : Lock down. He went crazy, thank god.
MARTIN : What ?
DEAN : I'm going crazy too. I'm seeing things, I'm hearing things, and we both are. Crazy's the clue.
MARTIN : What do you mean ? (Dean looks around, lost again. Martin snaps his fingers in front of Dean's face.) Dean !
DEAN : Crazy is the clue.
MARTIN : You-you'd said that. What ?
DEAN : I mean the things that me and Sam have done, the -the stuff we've seen... We're gonna end up going guano, eventually. Probably end up like a couple of drooling nutbags. No offense.
MARTIN : None taken.
DEAN : But me and him, freaking out on the same day... I mean, it's.. it's got to be the...
MARTIN : The monster.
DEAN : (freaking out.) What ? Where ? Where ?
MARTIN : No, no ! Not... No there's nothing there.
DEAN : (calming down.) Look. What if this thing doesn't feed on the insane ? What if it makes people insane ? Is that possible ? Does that seem real ?
MARTIN : Well... I'm... I'm not the most reliable source on what is real. But it sounds... makes sense.
DEAN : Okay. So... So we got infected. You know, something shot us up with crazy, you know something.... (He seems to catch on something.) Maybe... maybe it was the ghost of my dad.
MARTIN : No. Focus on the wraith, Dean. Focus.
DEAN : Right, the wraith, the wraith..... Okay. So the wraith... the wraith, it... it poisoned us. Maybe with venom, you know, by... by touch. Or venom, or... saliva. (He catches on something else.) Wendy.
MARTIN : Wendy ?
DEAN : Wendy ! Wendy slabbered all over me, and Sam ! That's how we got infected !
INT. CORRIDOR
(They walk. Dean tries to not walk on the lines of the linoleum. Martin stares at him.)
MARTIN : Dean....
DEAN : I can't step on the cracks.
(Wendy screams.)
INT. WENDY'S ROOM
(The hunters run in the room. They find Wendy, her wrists are bleeding, and the nurse who examined Dean and Sam in the first place, is above her. Dean looks at the mirror and sees the wraith.)
DEAN : Is this real ?
(The nurse gets out her bone claw from Wendy's neck, and licks it.)
NURSE : Oh, it is, sugar. It's very real.
(Screen fades to black.)
(The nurse fights againts Dean and Martin. Martin grabs a silver blade and succeeds to hurt her. Her wound is burning. She hits Martin, and runs away. Martin sits down next to Wendy. She blinks.)
MARTIN : She's still alive.
INT. CORRIDOR
(The nurse/wraith meets two male nurses.)
WRAITH : There's two patient in Wendy's room. They attacked me.
(Nurses run in direction of Wendy's room. The wraith smiles.)
INT. WENDY'S ROOM
MARTIN : Dean, can you hear me ? Dean ! You've got to get out there, and kill that thing. I'll take care of her.
DEAN : I'd... I can't.
MARTIN : You have to. You have no choice, son. (The nurses enter. Martin stops them.) Dean, run ! Run !
INT. CORRIDOR
(Dean gets out of the room. He tries to walk, but feels dizzy.)
INT. ISOLATION ROOM
(Sam is attached to his bed. The nurse/wraith comes in.)
SAM : Hey ! Let me go !
WRAITH : No. You are far too angry to be out there in the real world.
(Sam finally sees her reflection.)
SAM : You !
WRAITH : Of course, it's me. I got to say, you hunters don't exactly live up to your rep. I mean, Martin's a wreck. He's harmless. But, you and your brother come in here, talking tough about killing monsters ? Kind of made you easy to spot. Then all i took was a touch. And you were mine. Oh, I love it in here. This place is my own personal five-stars restaurant. (She passes here finger through Sam's forehead and sucks it.) Mmmm. Crazy brains. They get soaked in dopamine, and adrenaline, and just all sorts of hormones and chemicals that make them... delicious. And the crazier they are, the better they taste.
SAM : You did this to me !
WRAITH : Well, I helped. But that rage... No, no, no, no. That's all you. I don't make crazy, I just crack up what's already there. You build your own hell. But I give you the legos. And when you're ripe... I make all of your problems disappear.
(She takes her claw, but Dean runs in.)
DEAN : You get away from him !
WRAITH : Do you really think that this is gonna end well for you, kiddo ?
DEAN : No. (He takes his silver blade.) But I'm crazy. So what the hell ?
(He fights against her. She almost stabs him in the forehead, but he grabs her claw and breaks it. She screams. Dean finally stabs her to death.)
SAM : Are you still crazy ?
DEAN : Not any more than usual. (He helps Sam.) We got to get out fo here.
SAM : Yeah.
(The alarm rings. Screen fades to black.)
EXT. THE IMPALA.
(The boys run to the Impala. Sam stops, Dean is ready to get inside the car.)
DEAN : Well, looks like Tom Cruise was right. Shrinks suck. What are you doing ? Sam, are you okay ?
SAM : No... No, the wraith...
DEAN : What about it ?
SAM : She was right.
DEAN : No, she wasn't. She's dead, okay ? Let's hit the road. I need a drink. Or twelve.
SAM : Most of the time, I can hide it. But I am angry. I'm mad at everything. I used to be mad at you and Dad, then Lilith, now it's Lucifer, and I make excuses. I blame Ruby, or the demon blood. But it's not there fault, it's not them, it's me ! It's inside me ! I am mad ! All the time ! And I don't know why.
DEAN : Sam. Stop it. So what if you are ? What are you gonna do, take a leave of absence ? You'll just say "yes" to Lucifer ? What ?
SAM : No, of course not, I...
DEAN : Exactly. And that's exactly what you're gonna do, you're gonna take all that crap. And you're gonna bury it. You need to forget about it. Because that's how we keep going. That's how we don't end up like Martin. Are you with me ? (Sam doesn't answer.) Come on man, are tyou with me ?
SAM : I'm with you.
DEAN : Good. Let's get the hell out of here.
(They get inside the car, and leave.)
