INTERVIEW JENSEN & JARED

"When we actually read for the network and did the whole formality of the audition process, I don’t think there was an body reading against us." Jensen "He and I were the only two people there, I was like, 'Hey, where’s everybody else’?"Jared "Jared and I went in to read for the network by ourselves, and all the executives stood up and said ‘congratulations. You guys got it’. Right there is the room. That was pretty neat." Jensen

 

 

"It was like, ‘look, it’s just you and me, man, this is going to be a daunting task, it’s going to be a very demanding and taxing schedule, so we gotta look out for each other." Jensen

 

"We’ll have to kind of pick each other up. Like, ‘Dude, come on. Get with it. We’re going to film right now. These DVDs will be watched in a thousand years…’ And sometimes I say to him, ‘Dude, you’re faking it’. And he’ll say the same thing to me. ‘Hey, you’re bored with the scene. "Dean’s having issues on camera,’ Ackles says in reference to John Winchester’s death. ‘I’m just having issues because I don’t get to hang out with Jeffrey anymore." Jensen

 

"I mean, obviously the Pilot stands out among all the rest. But Dead in the Water holds a special place in my heart , too. I liked what my character had to go through in that episode. It was kind of the first time where I really got a sense of who Dean was, and I was able to peel back some layers." Jensen

 

INTERVIEW ERIC KRIPKE

"We knew we were going to wrap up the Yellow-Eyed demon storyline at the end of season two, and we were excited to do so because if you leave these things hanging for too long then they tend to collapse Under their own weight. Our plan was to conclude that storyline and take the show somewhere bigger, and that’s what we’ve done."

 

"There’s probable not a day goes by on the set when I don’t bring up An American Werewolf in London, because for me that’s the sweet spot. That movie takes its fear and scares very seriously, which we aim to do, but it’s a funny movie too, with very black humor."

 

"Initially, I wanted to do an anthology series, then that changed into a show about a tabloid reporter who traveled around the country investigating all these weird happenings for his newspaper. No one believes his stories, but they’re entirely true.
When my time came to pitch a pilot to Warner Bros, they asked me what I wanted to do and I told them I’d like to make a series about urban legends. They were like, ‘great, make it scary and come back to us.' So I pursued the reporter angle, which, if I’m honest, was basically an elaborate rip-off of Kolchak : the night stalker and went back to Warner Bros with my pitch. They weren’t interested in that idea at all, but, to their credit, they asked me what else I had. I immediate started tap dancing and told them about this whole other idea that I’d been working on about two brothers driving along Route 66 fighting evil. In fact, I’d only had this idea the day before and had quickly scribbled it down in my notebook. But the studio was like, ‘We love it, let’s to it’. So my eleventh hour notion became Supernatural"

 

"We were really sweating it and then David Nutter, who directed the pilot, had the notion of meeting with Jensen Ackles, who he’s ore with before on Dark Angel. Se we brought Jensen in and realized instantly that he was lightning in a bottle just waiting to explode. All that charisma he portrays on screen is there in real like too. So we said, ‘Great, awesome, we’ve found Sam’. […] We were certain Jensen was going to be Sam. And so we continued our hunt for Dean. We were looking for han Solo, a Young Harrison Ford, but weren’t even coming close. And then Jared came in. He was so empathetic and soulful and such a regular guy, he just had Sam written all over him. And he was Willy charismatic in the same way Jensen was. He walked out and I said to David, ‘but we already have Sam. What do we do?’ […] We took tapes of the boys to the studio and told them we liked both of them for Sam. I’m pretty sure it was the president of Warner Bros, Peter Roth, who said : ‘Well, why don’t you make Jensen Dean? He reads older, they’ll make a great team!’ and David and I looked at each other as if to say, ‘Well, why didn’t we think of that?’ "

 

"I was nervous, because the fans are famous protective of the guys and they don’t always like us bringing in new characters, but I really like Ruby and Bela. I think they’re intriguing and they’re fun to break [develop storylines for] in the writer’s room."

 

INTERVIEW ALONA TAL

"When I did the first episode, I thought Jo was very experienced, and I thought she was a hunter - I suppose because of the way they introduced her with guns and everything. It turned out later that she wasn’t that experienced, and I had to rework what I had initially thought."

INTERVIEW KATIE CASSIDY

"I originally went in for the other series regular, Bela. […] Three hours after auditioning for Bela, they had me come back in to audition of Ruby. I knew if they wanted me that I was going to turn down the other projects."

 

"Ruby definitely loves to manipulate - she’s always 10 steps ahead of everybody else. She’s got it together, she knows what she wants, and she knows how to get it. There are definitely a couple of times where she comes in and helps out a little bit. And she’s full of surprises."

"they’re really, really sweet guys. Everyone you talk to will tell you the same thing, but it’s true. Jared is a big goofball, and he and I have this banter back and forth, which is funny. Jensen, I actually don’t see as much, but I have ore with him and he’s great. They both know what they’re doing, and they have it down to a science. They’re really hardworking, nice boys."

"I had this scene with ketchup where I squeeze it really, really, really hard and I put a bunch of it on my plate. Well, I did that on the third take and it was my third day on set and I was still pretty new…and somebody had unscrewed the ketchup bottle a little bit and left it so that when I squeezed the ketchup out, the ketchup went shooting all over myself and all over my plate. I was so embarrassed, but I was trying to basically just go with it. But then Jared was like, ‘Wow that’s a lot of ketchup’. And then everyone sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to me, because if somebody breaks something or messes something up or gets a prank pulled on them, they all sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to you. I still don’t really know if Jared did this or not, I don’t even know if somebody planned it. But Jared said, ‘Hu-oh, somebody’s out to get you…’"

 

INTERVIEW KIM MANNERS

"I loved In My Time of Dying. I thought it was brilliant acted on everybody’s part. I like Scarecrow because I do think it was a turning point in the show. I also think the season closer from last year, All Hell Breaks Loose, was a very strong episode."

"I thought everybody’s performance was truly special, very honest, very believable. The emotional scenes between Sam and Dean, and Sam, Dean, and John…when a director is watching the rough a monitor and tears come to your eyes, you know you’re doing something special. I had tears in my eyes watching those scenes."

 

"I don’t think Hookman worked on a number of levels. I was an early episode, and everyone was trying very hard to figure out how to make an urban legend that many people know about and disbelieve, really believable and scary. The first one that really ore, which I’m very proud of, is Dead In the Water. But with Scarecrow, everybody said, ‘Yes! This is what we need to do in terms of writing, lighting, directing, all of it!’. By that time Jared and Jensen had really found Sam and Dean and knew who they were."

 

"The weather is probably your number one challenge."

 

"We’re fortunate because Eric and John Shiban and Bob Singer have created what can only be described as a family atmosphere."

"Well, I’ve called Jensen and Jared my second litter. I did 21 jump street with Johnny Depp, Peter DeLuis, Dustin Nguyen and Steven Williams…so I had four kids back in 1986, and now I have two kids who are, what, 25 and 29, and they act like four-yeau-olds. Every day I threaten to kill them both. They do nothing but have fun, it’s very hard to make them listen and pay attention. If you’ve ever seen a Fellini movie, that’s what the set is like. Everyone’s nuts, and we have a great time. And I think that’s why the work is as special as it is. It’s long hours, but everyone enjoys everyone else’s company. Jared and Jensen are full of pranks. They call me short, and, of course, I am short, and they’re eight feet tall. It keeps morale up, we’re constantly throwing barbs. That’s how we get through it. It’s not fun working in the rain, standing on a concrete sound stage 14 hours a day, and all the rest of it. The boys create a festive atmosphere."

Des gens qui trouvent une consolation dans les histoires, les vraies histoires, celles qu’on se raconte autour du feu de camp depuis des centaines d’années. INTERVIEW JENSEN & JARED

"Quand on a vraiment été lire pour la chaîne et qu'on est passé par tout le processus des auditions, je pense qu'il n'y avait personne contre nous." Jensen "Lui et moi étions les deux seules personnes à être là, j'étais là 'Hé, où sont les autres'?" Jared "Jared et moi nous sommes présentés seuls à la chaîne pour la lecture, et tous les executives se sont levés et on dit 'félicitation. Vous l'avez les gars.' Juste là dans la pièce. C'était assez sympa." Jensen

 

"C'était genre, 'écoute, il n'y a que toi et moi, ça va être intimidant, ça va être un emploi du temps exigeant et compliqué, alors on doit veiller l'un sur l'autre." Jensen

 

"Il va falloir qu'on se reprenne l'un l'autre. Genre, 'Mec, aller. Sois dedans. On va tourner cette scène dessuite. Ces DVD seront regardés dans une centaine d'années...' et parfois je lui dis, 'Mec, tu joues faux.' Et il me dira la même chose. 'Hé, t'en as marre de cette scène. Arrêtes d'en avoir marre de cette scène.' Je travaille mieux avec cette amour vache." Jared

 

"Dean a des problèmes devant la caméra,' dit Ackles en parlant de la mort de John Winchester. 'J'ai des soucis parce que je ne peux plus passer du temps avec Jeffrey." Jensen

 

"Je veux dire, évidemment le pilot est au dessus du lot. Mais L'esprit du lac a aussi une place importante dans mon coeur. J'ai aimé ce que mon personnage a eût a traverser pendant cet épisode. C'était un peu la première fois que je comprenais vraiment qui était Dean, et que j'étais capable de soulever quelques couches" Jensen

INTERVIEW ERIC KRIPKE

"On savait qu'on aller mettre fin à l'histoire du Démon aux Yeux Jaunes à la fin de la saison deux, et on était excité à l'idée parce que si vous laissez ce genre de choses trainer trop longtemps, elles ont tendance à s'écrouler sous leur propre poids. Notre plan était de conclure cet arc puis d'emmener la série vers quelque chose de plus grand, et c'est ce qu'on a fait."

 

"Il est probable que pas un jour ne passe sur le tournage sans que je mentionne Le loup-garou de Londes, parce que pour moi c'est le point sensible. Ce film prend la peur au sérieux, ce qui est notre but, mais c'est aussi un film drôle, avec un humour très noir."

 

"Au départ, je voulais faire une série d'anthologie, puis j'ai changé et s'est devenue une série sur un journaliste de tabloïde qui parcours le pays en enquêtant pour son magazine sur tout ces phénomènes étranges. Personne ne croit ses histoires, mais elle sont entièrement vraies. Quand mon tour est venu de présenter un projet de pilot à la Warner Bros, ils m'ont demandé ce que je voulais faire et je leur ai dit que j'aimerai faire une série sur les légendes urbaines. Ils étaient là, 'super, fais en quelque chose d'effrayant et reviens nous voir.' Alors j'ai continué à travailler sur le journaliste, ce qui, si je suis honnête, n'était qu'une copie améliorée de Dossiers Brûlants, et je suis retourné à la Warner Bros avec mon projet. Ils n'étaient pas du tout intéressés à l'idée, mais, et c'est tout à leur mérite,  ils m'ont demandé si j'avais autre chose. J'ai immédiatement commencé à tourner autour du pot et leur ai parlé de cette idée totalement différente sur laquelle je travaillais à propos de deux frères conduisant sur la Route 66 et combattant le mal. En réalité, j'avais eu cette idée seulement la veille et avait rapidement gribouiller ça sur mon calepin. Mais le studio était là, 'on adore, faisons ça!'. Et c'est comme ça que mon idée de dernière minute est devenue supernatural."

 

"On était vraiment anxieux quand d'un coup David Nutter, qui dirigeait le pilot, a eu l'idée de rencontrer Jensen Ackles, avec qui il avait travaillé auparavent sur Dark Angel. Alors on a fait venir Jensen et on a immédiatement réalisé que c'était un concentré de talent pret à éclater au grand jour . Tout ce charisme qu'il a à l'écran est là aussi dans la réalité.Alors on s'est dit, 'Super, génial, on a trouvé Sam'. [...] On était sûr que Jensen allait être Sam. Et donc on a continué la traque pour Dean. On recherchait Han Solo, un jeune Harrison Ford, mais on n'approchait même pas du but. Puis Jared est arrivé. Il était si empathique et mélancolique et  un gars tellement normal, il était la personnification de Sam. Et il était très charismatique, le même charme que Jensen. Il est sortie et j'ai dit à David, 'mais on a déjà trouvé Sam. On fait quoi?' [...] On a emmener les cassettes des garçons au studio et on leur a dit qu'on aimait les deux pour le rôle de Sam. Je suis presque sûr que c'était le président de la Warner Bros, Peter Roth, qui a dit : 'Pourquoi vous ne faite pas de Jensen Dean? Il parait plus vieux, ils vont faire une super équipe!' et David et moi nous sommes regardé comme pour dire 'Pourquoi on n'avait pas pensé à ça?'"

 

"J'étais nerveux, parce que les fans sont très protecteurs des garçons et ils n'aiment pas toujours quand on apporte de nouveaux personnages, mais j'aime vraiment Ruby et Bela. Je pense qu'elles sont intrigantes et c'est sympa de les développer dans la salle des scénaristes."

 

INTERVIEW ALONA TAL

"Quand j'ai tourné le premier épisode, je pensais que Jo avait beaucoup d'expérienceset je pensais qu'elle était une chasseuse - je suppose que j'ai pensé ça à cause de la façon dont ils la présente avec armes et tout. Il s'est avéré plus tard qu'elle n'était pas expérimentée, et j'ai du revoir ce que j'avais pensé au départ."

"J'ai lu quelque part que quelqu'un avait dit que j'étais venu ici pour toucher de meilleurs salaires. Ce n'est pas vrai. Je suis venue ici parce que c'est le rêve de tout le monde - c'est la capital, c'est la Mecque de l'acteur ou de l'artiste."

 

"C'était tellement amusant. Je ne comprend pas pourquoi toutes les autres séries ne me font pas courir en frappant à tout va. Je ne comprend vraiment pas..."

 

INTERVIEW KATIE CASSIDY

"Au départ j'ai auditionné pour l'autre rôle régulier, Bela. [...] Trois heures après avoir auditionné pour Bela, ils m'ont fait revenir afin d'auditionner pour Ruby. Je savais que s'ils me voulaient j'allais refuser les autres projets."

 

"Ruby aime incontestablement manipuler - elle a toujours une longueur d'avance sur tout le monde. Elle est réfléchie, elle sait ce qu'elle veut, et elle sait comment l'obtenir. Il y a sans aucun doutes des moments où elle arrive et aide un peu. Elle est pleine de surprises."

"Ce sont vraiment, vraiment des gars gentils. Toutes les personnes a qui vous en parlé vous diront la même chose, mais c'est vrai. Jared est un grand gamin, et lui et moi plaisantons beaucoup, ce qui est amusant. Jensen, je ne le vois enfait pas autant, mais j'ai travaillé avec lui et il est super. Ils savent tous les deux ce qu'ils font, et ils en ont fait une science. Ce sont vraiment des gars sympa et bosseurs."

"J'avais cette scène avec du ketchup pendant laquelle je presse la bouteille vraiment, vraiment, vraiment fort et en verse un paquet dans mon assiette. Et bien, j'ai fais ça lors de la troisième prise et c'était mon troisième jour sur le plateau et j'étais encore nouvelle...et quelqu'un avait un peu dévissé le bouchon et l'avait laissé tel quel de façon à ce que quand j'ai pressé, j'avais du ketchup partout sur moi et dans mon assiette. J'étais tellement gênée, mais j'essayais juste de gérer ça et de continuer. Mais Jared était là, 'Wow ça fait beaucoup de ketchup'. Puis tout le monde m'a chanté 'joyeux anniversaire', parce que si quelqu'un casse quelque chose ou dérange quelque chose ou est victime d'une farce, ils vous chantent tous 'joyeux anniversaire'. Je ne sais toujours pas si c'est Jared qui l'a fait ou non, je ne sais même pas si c'était plannifié. Mais Jared a dit, 'Hu-ho, quelqu'un en a après toi...'"
